Auto Insurance

Auto Insurance Page

The auto insurance goes from mandatory in Illinois to necessary for covering the damages you could incur to yourself or to others. There are two major types of auto insurance. Liability only and so called Full Insurance. Liability is only the coverage you provide to others in case you damage their property or injure them at fault, but you are not covered if you sustain injuries to yourself.

For Illinois the minimum limits of liability are 20/40/15, written on a split limit basis, which means that the first two numbers are related to bodily injury and the third number is for property damages. The numbers are in thousands and per accident, i.e. $20,000 per person for bodily injury; $40,000 per accident for bodily injury; and $15,000 for all property damages per accident.

If you travel outside Illinois and you are involved in an auto accident and the other state requires higher limits of liability than you maintain, the Personal Auto Policy will provide the higher specified limit for this accident.

Business auto coverage or as known commercial auto insurance includes the Liability part and also Comprehensive/physical damage coverage/ and collision.
